Nigel chairs the Scientific Advisory Committee for Open Medical - a medical software company providing integrated patient management systems for the NHS.

He is a founder, past Chair and a Director of Incision Indemnity - providing medical indemnity for surgeons in the UK in private practice.

He is a trustee of the Hope Cove Independent Lifeboat - a volunteer lifeboat in the village that he grew up in in Devon, England (which also once saved his life).
